We do something similar, though we do it on Thanksgiving and Christmas day. We say Gobble Gobble or Ho Ho Ho. You have to get the caller before the caller gets you. In this day and age of Caller ID, we tend to block our numbers when we call LOL!

Merry Christmas Eve Gift, Cheri! :O Guess what? My mother has a similar story! She grew up very poor and her brothers and sisters would walk down the road and when they saw someone coming they would all yell "Christmas Eve Gift" thinking the persons would throw them a gift. Unfortunately, the didn't get any gifts that way. They must have heard about this tradition.
