“How to Recover a lampshade” Tutorial Its So Very Creative

by CHERI on March 28, 2010

Mcklinky party is at the end of this post.

I did a Blog Swap and showed how to recover a Lampshade

You can click on that link to see the entire Tutorial.

I THOUGHT I had rolled the lampshade all the way around but when I started applying it –with the adhesive already on it. I got around to the front and my material was a little short. This is where the plan changed for my lampshade.
I cut a couple of extra pieces and added them in, then sewed on some buttons.
I measured around the bottom of the lampshade and then multiplied that number by 4 and ripped strips of material 3 inches wide. I sewed them all together and then ran a thread up the middle and gathered it all up.
I attached it around the bottom. then ripped a little more material and made a double bow.

HELP–I don’t like the ruffle–too cutesy for me.

I originally was going to add an iron on graphic of an old postcard and have the address be

52

so now I am thinking about taking the ruffle off and making the buttons be the back of the lamps shade and add the iron on to the front

What do you think?

The other thing I was going to do was add a cool chandelier on the other side of the post card–chandelier–lamp— but I can’t find a cool one I like in free photo stuff, if you have used one let me  know where you found yours.

I will post to some of these parties:

I love this lamp! I think the postcard would look fantastic, but I also like the ruffle. My living room lamps could use a little rehab and this would be perfect! Thanks for sharing!!

Hi Cheri! Don’t fall off your chair now, but I actually managed to start and finish a project, write a tutorial, post it on my (other crafty) blog and link up. Aren’t you proud of me?

One thing: I am having trouble with your buttons. The Creative Monday one I cannot post, the code is broken. The general one looks much different on my blog than on yours and there is code in it. I deleted that and went with the old fashioned link. I’d love to replace it with a button, though. Looks much nicer.

Have a good week!

Love what you did with the lamo.. I think the addition of the buttons is perfect. I’m not much into ruffles but your’s are overwhelming. Really like the postcard or some other art idea. Thanks for hosting this party.
Maybe one of these days I’ll complete a project and can participate too.
