My Computer’s Falling apart and can’t get up or can it?? Its So Very Renovated

by CHERI on April 12, 2010

My dear sweet Miss G4 had pulled off 3 computer keys when she was only 1 and we could not get them back on. I can not tell you how long I tried to work on those keys. I kept thinking I need to take this computer in but you know how it is–there is always something on the list to get done or something that needs to be fixed or paid for, so I have typed away on a laptop keyboard like this:
Click on the picture to see what she did to the left side of my keyboard. (The key missing on the Right side is the one that popped off.)

Are you surprised I could even type at all– I am.

Last week, I was typing along and all of a sudden another key went flying on the right side– and a little piece of plastic on the underneath side was broke.

I decided to start looking into replacing the keys–the only problem–We use this computer so much there were several keys that the letters were rubbed off or so much that you couldn’t tell the difference between a c and an o. To replace all the keys was going to get up there in price and if they pop off and break that easy, who knows how many more would go.

I started searching “replacing the keyboard” I found my exact keyboard for a bargain. Not even $25.00 and direction on the Dell Website for replacing it.

It arrived and sat for a couple of days–Prince Charming had not gotten to it. I decided to go for it. He had to show me one little clip I missed but other than that , I got it all taken apart and put back together. My husband was impressed, my 2 big boys were impressed–even I impressed myself– ITS SO VERY RENOVATED.

I was asked this past week WHAT IS A BLOG HOP and what is the difference.
YOU GRAB the code for the BLOG HOP (down there –do you see it?) and add it to your BLOG–let your followers know to grab it, add to it and pass it on as well.
Because it gets your projects more recognition ALL OVER blogland. It gets picked up by your followers and by time it has been passed down 4 or 5 blogs later–you are getting noticed by people who have never heard of your blog.
So grab the BLOG HOP and increase your coverage and get new followers without much work on your part at all.
Seriously–we are always looking for new ways to reach people and this is one of the easiest ways ever.

AND JUST FOR FUN–Do you know what that is–It’s a FLORIDA GROWN LEMON–can you believe how big that is?

Girl…that is one big lemon!! WOW! It looks like a navel orange! What a great find on the keyboard! I am sure you were thrilled! I happen to know you can not get the keys back on. We have one at work that is missing a key. Have a great day and I am going to check out this giveaway! 🙂

_I_ am SO impressed! I would have been afraid I would break the laptop. The laptop makers should work on the keyboard button popping problem. My son did the same thing to my laptop when he was little.

I was scarred and praying like the flood was coming. As I began, my oldest said “you mean you could be ruining a perfectly good computer”–he honestly thought THAT was a PERFECTLY good computer. Yes I was afraid it would not work at all. I keep touching metal so I wouldn’t static shock the computer and kill it. Normally I would have been terrified to try something like that.

You sound like me – waiting for your husband to get to it and then giving in and doing it yourself! Good job – I would have been worried about breaking something. 🙂
