GIVE-A-WAY TIME-poetry art by Launa

by CHERI on November 7, 2010

Have you ever heard of Poetry Art by Launa?

Poetry Art by Launa.  Let me tell you a little about Launa and her art.  Launa created this unique style of Art.  Look closely- each picture that she creates is a poem. All those shadows are the words to the poem.   She writes a poem and then creates a picture with the words of the poem.  She has sold her paintings and had them on display world wide.

She created this style of art while living in California.  Her first appointment with a gallery owner brought her first sale, then came private gallery shows.

She sells her art work and gift cards at her site Poetry Art

Launa and her husband have a passion for those less fortunate.  She is a humanitarian and has traveled to numerous countries around the world.  Her art is showcased in Musuems throughout the World.

Launa wrote a book about her life’s journey and discovering her special gift.

I have had the privelege of reading her book. I received it late in the afternoon and began reading it that same evening that it arrived in the mail.

2 days later I was closing the book of over 250 pages. I just could not put it down. It is that intriguing.

I cried, I laughed, I reminised.

You see Launa and I went to High School together. I have known her for a long time. She found me on facebook, read my ABOUT ME page and sent me an e-mail.  It has been fun catching up with her.  Some stories were so real for me–like the story of Brian and Mike and another story about our friend Robin.

I asked Launa to tell you gals something about me from high school.  I did not tell her what to focus on and to be quite honest, I wasn’t sure what she would tell you.  I got a little nervous–what would she reveal about me that was in the deep crevices of her brain and now I can not find the e-mail she sent for the life of me.

Sweet Launa re-sent her memories of me, so nerves and all, here it goes:

How I know Cheri (Childers) Peoples:

We attended a small Christian High School together.  I started this school in my Sophomore year; I was nervous and shy, but I remember Cheri was friendly and outgoing.  What I recall the most about her was that she was the first person to reach out to me and drum up a friendship.   She had a bubbly personality and she was very “black and white” in her thinking.  I remember Cheri being strong in her faith and opinionated as to what was right and wrong.  I think that says a lot about a person’s character, particularly a teenager, when they will be undaunted in their beliefs.  So often, a high-schooler cares more about being accepted and fitting in.  I also recall Cheri being talented musically.  She had a sweet, angelic voice and sang (and won) in competitions.  I, being terrified of public speaking, was amazed at her courage to perform in front of her peers.

We have talked back and forth about life’s journeys over the past few years. I told her I would love to showcase her art on my blog and she offered one of her books to you gals.

This give-a-way is open to US entrants only.

Go over to Launa’s site PoetryArtand tell me what your favorite piece of art work is, then leave me a comment and I will do a drawing for the winner of this spell binding book. You must leave me a comment so I can get ahold of you – if you are the winner.

Be sure to add a subscription of her blog to your reader.

I would love to have you follow me.

The winner will be announced next Sunday.

Launa will be doing a give-a-way –one of her art pieces in early December.  I am so jealous that you have the opportunity to win a piece of her art, although I have the treasure of her friendship and that will last a life time. Maybe once my hubby is out of school I can commission her to do a piece of my kiddos.

My favorite is the Red, White and Blue. What beautiful art! I couldn’t help but open every picture larger to see the beautiful details. Hard to choose!

Laura’s work is amazing! I poured over the prints and had trouble choosing a favorite but in the end, I kept coming back to Hungry for Love. There was something about that one that just resonated with me.

I have been trying to think of ways to incorporate poetry into my art, so I would love to win this book!
