Alligator Tail, Frog Legs and BBQ?

by CHERI on June 15, 2009

Would you eat Frog legs and Alligator tail?

Those alligators can take over anything and you wouldn’t dare try to take it back from them.

(Click on the picture-they have the Christmas tree decorated with little alligators.)

All the children parks/play grounds around here tend to have water and they have signs posted “Don’t feed the alligators” Maybe it would be better to post a sign that says “Don’t let your children get near the water-Alligators feed on people”. We have a 12 foot, 3 legged alligator that likes to sun bathe on the golf course, here in the subdivision-obviously it got into a fight with something bigger than it.

We took the kids to a restaurant today for lunch and unfortunately I can’t recommend it, if you ever come to Naples, Fl for a vacation. This is a GREAT place to vacation. There are TONS of GREAT restaurants but this one got about a C-. It was dark-poor lighting, had poor service. We went for a LATE lunch around 2:00 today and we were the only ones in there and we had to ask for anything we needed. I don’t want you to think we were expecting too much: we needed simple things like napkins and a refill on drinks. We are from Kansas City and Kansas City has GREAT BBQ-I will argue with anyone-it is the BEST. We had been told they had great BBQ so we tried it and it was just OK, a little dry and the sauce tasted like ketchup. We also ordered 2 appetizers-alligator tail and frog legs. The alligator tail was really good. This is something I would definitely try again from another restaurant. Have you ever been around alligators. Alligators scare me but frogs-I do not like frogs-they really scare me. This was my first time having frog legs as well. I am a city girl. My husband grew up in the city, as well, but he had the opportunity of experiencing farm life at family farms. He is well rounded. He has caught and had fresh frog legs and said fresh is better. One time was enough for me-I’m just not into swampy tasting meat. We had a frog in the garage the other day. I was not going to go out and look at it-those things know I don’t like them. Finally after everyone kept asking, I went to the door-and-yes it was huge. Just as I am getting there, my husband goes to pick it up, to take it outside and what does it do, but jump for the door where I am standing. It was on the floor of the garage still, at this point, BUT right in front of me. Gabby is beside me and I screamed and Gabby screamed. Poor thing was so terrified-I mean my daughter, not the frog. What does that crazy frog do but jump up on the door right by me. I was backing up and screaming and Gabby was screaming. (This is all happening very fast.) Of course all the boys are cracking up-so I did not feel bad-not one little bit-tasting that swamp water frog leg meat-never again, once was enough for me but I got that frog back for jumping at me, or at least one of his cousins.

You are braver than me…I don't think I will ever try alligator or frogs legs.

Hi Cheri! Finally my computer let me add myself as a follower to your wonderful blog – I've been trying for quite some time and it was being stubborn! Thanks for the warning about alligators. I'm up here in NJ and we don't have gators, but we got lots of other critters. Take care, Kim
