by CHERI on July 5, 2016

When I posted our kitchen update here, I promised a tutorial on the corbels.

I love the rustic weathered wood look from Restoration Hardware.

The corbels from Restoration Hardware were $150 each.  We needed 8 ( $1200)
We went with the Mission Corbel from Home Depot. $50 each ($400) plus stain.

There are 3 pretty easy steps in this process–

#1- go over the corbels with a coat of  stain- I used driftwood.

#2- go over them with a coat of Jacobean.

I used a small sponge to apply.  I didn’t cover the entire piece to allow for the weathered wood to show through as well.  I wiped off with t-shirt rag material as I applied. Then I added more in some areas.

#3- I used white wash pickling to areas.

Make sure I left white wash in some of the crevices to give it that authentic aged look.
