The Knock Off Knock Out party my jute twine vase project

by CHERI on August 16, 2009

So here we are for week 2 of the Knock Off Knock Out party. If you have something that you have made, that is a Knock Off of something you have seen or tasted, and you make something, that looks or tastes or feels or smells (you get the idea) like the Knock Off and it is Fab-U-Loush-ess, then you just made a Knock Out. It can be anything at all. If you have a picture of the original-great if not just tell where you saw it or tasted it. I say this is where THRIFTY meets CREATIVE SENSATION.
The KNOCK OFF KNOCK OUT party will be here every Monday and you can post to it throughout the week. Snatch the button on the side and help get the word out.

I am going to post a few things for the Knock Off Knock Out.
I picked up this vase at the Goodwill and thought ‘hmmm should I keep it like this or wrap it in a big thick jute twine rope’. I thought ‘I will post this on the blog and let everyone vote whether I should leave it, as is or add the jute’. After my GW stop I did grocery shopping.

I walk in the door with my hands loaded with groceries and my vase in hand and as I sat the groceries down on the tile floor I heard a little ding and sure enough this is what I had:

So then I began thinking about it and knew what had to be done-no need to post it as a question. I wondered what was out there that looked similar for the Knock Off Knock Out party.

Ballard Designs and Pottery Barn have some that look similar.
Here is Pottery Barns:

They run $99.00-$279.00
And here is Ballard Designs

They run $69.00-$169.00
I took a picture with my Beach plate I made so I looked to see if there were any plates that were similar. This is all I found-nothing really close.
This is from HSN (4/ $30.00)

This one is from new port nautical and is $40.00

So here is how mine turned out and I will show you the plates I have for sale as well that I think would go nice with this. The plate coloring didn’t come out great it is a pretty beach, sea side ocean blue.
So I already had the jute twine and had used some and still have some left so this project was probably around $7.00 or $8.00

I am at Thrifty Decor Chick right now and look what her post is about. Is that not funny.

And this is a personal Knock Off (orchestrated by God himself) and she is a KNOCK OUT:
Miss G4 (2 1/2):

She looks so much like me, at that age. Cheri around 2:

Is that the BEST Knock Off ever?

Well here’s another:
Mr G3 (4 yrs old)

Prince Charming is around 4 (he’s the youngest one)

For any of you who want to see the alligators being hand fed at the zoo-the post is just under this one.

I am also posting this to Met Mondays and Rhoda’s thrifty Finds Gina”s party at The Shabby Chic Cottage Transformation Thursday Reinvented’s Trash to Treasure party Design Ties Rewind Wed also doing Thrifty Thursday and last but not least A Soft Place to Land DIY .

Here are the Guidelines:

1. You must enter your permalink (not your URL) to this post. Your permalink is when you click on the title of that post and the address in the address box shows your permalink. That way people clicking over to see your project don’t have to find the post about it, it takes them right to it.

2. You must link back to THIS post so your readers can find the party and join in or check out what everyone else posted for the week.

If you come back and find that your link got deleted it is due to number 1 or 2 not being done and you can re-post with the correct info.

I look forward to seeing all of your projects and I will post a few tomorrow for others to see some of my favorites. Remember I LOVE reading every single comment and coming to visit you. Join my followers and subscribe and I will do the same.

I've been wanting to make one for such a long time & I think if mine had broke like yours I would have given up *smiles* Way to go! Looks totally fab! Love the beachy plate too *smiles*

Cheri,
Thanks for stopping by. Looks like your new party will be fun! Love the save with your vase (and my vote would have been to do the twine if it hadn't been damaged).
