Red Writing Wreath party

UPDATE:  I NEED YOUR HELP LADIES–ANY SUGGESTIONS on DEALS I may not know about???
Sorry it took so long to get this update done.  I have been working on booking our tickets back to Kansas City and searching for deals on rental cars-actually a mini-van.  Any suggestions on great deals.  I may do a Priceline bid.  With 4 kids we have to have a van or SUV, and a van has better pricing but I’m not opposed to an SUV.  I wish I had a rich uncle with 4 extra cars and we could just borrow one but I don’t so I have to focus on finding a GREAT deal. So for all you experienced DEAL-FINDING travelors-HELP ME.  For all you gals in the KC area-keep me up to date on the weather–OK.  We only have shorts and short sleeves or sleeveless stuff and if I need to grab something for the kids-it may even have to be once we land-there aren’t a lot of options for warm weather clothing here in SW Florida.  I am hoping it is nice and warm, I hate to think about having to buy warm clothing, if it gets cold there, for just a week and a half, because they will not get to wear it down here. UGHHH!!!  I added more pictures of my trees.  I did get all my comments visited and am trying to get over to visit some of you that I haven’t “seen” for awhile. One of these days I need to go grocery shopping or I am going to run out of food.

I haven’t started on my pumpkin projects yet. I haven’t started my 2 big wood projects. I haven’t started G4’s wedding outfit project. I did start planning out the home school schedule–Ugghhh I need a 26 hour day.

This is decorated-Progress.

So–before I get to the party.
I am doing another GIVE-A-WAY. On my far right panel you will see this book cover

by Sandy Badgett, Remembering Laura, letting go of life with beauty and grace. I personally know Sandy. We went to the same church together and I was very familiar with Laura’s story. Laura was diagnosed with a brain tumor, as a newly married, young wife, who hadn’t even had a chance to have any children or begin to make a dent in all the plans they wanted to do together. What I really love about this book (and yes I read it and could barely put it down) is that Sandy doesn’t just write a sad story about her daughter’s journey. Yes, it is a heart wrenching story, after all she left behind a young husband and 2 little boys, A Mom and Dad and 2 brothers and a host of friends and other family members, but it doesn’t matter what you are dealing with-job loss, problems with a rebellious teenager, divorce, illness, tragic loss, financial despair, YOU can apply this book to your life. Remembering Laura just came out Aug, 5th-Laura’s birthday.

I purchased a book and Sandy was so kind to offer one of her books as a give away on my blog. She has added a sweet personal touch, she has added different styled little bookmark ribbons in each book, of course they are in Laura’s favorite color-pink. All you need to do is go over to Sandy’s website, click on her name, Sandy Badgett
and it will take you there. Look around and then come back over and You need to tell me 2 things and this is so super easy-the name of Laura’s 2 little boys AND what made you want to read this book.

You can put your name in for the drawing up until next Monday, Sept. 14. (till 11:59 p.m.) and I will announce the winner on Tues, Sept. 15 with my favorite picks next Tues. The chance to enter begins NOW!!!

If you don’t have a blog, send me an e-mail with the info. My e-mail is in the contact button at the top of my blog.

One of my new followers Miss Daisy is having a give-a-way as well.

I am still working on my Decorating project, for the Celebrating the Holidays party, so I will come back and add it to this post in a little while but I wanted to get the party up in the meantime, so you sweet gals can post your projects and yummy recipes.

These foam sheets are really expensive for what they are. I mean really, a DOLLAR a sheet. The only way I can say it is worth it, in this instance, is that I used 2 sheets and got 24 ornaments made so that is only 8 cents an ornament not counting the ribbon I will use to hang them but I buy it in bulk so it isn’t much and this is what I created with a little glue, foam sheets and some craft paint.

I used 3 sheets for the candy corns making them 12-13 cents each.

So I will get my trees on the lanai decorated tonight and post those pictures before I go to bed.

Updated info:
I will take better pictures in the morning with good natural lighting. It is just too dark to get anything GREAT. I will post what I have taken but I will re-post again tomorrow.

This is the CANDY CORN TREE. It is done in all white, yellow and orange. I used a spider web for the tree topper. It is a white flocked tree and it has been perfect for so many different themes I have done. It is great for Easter with pale, soft colors, it is beautiful with Valentine red and pink decor. For those of you who don’t know me or are just getting familiar with me and my blog, I have been decorated trees on the front lanai all year long-doing a new theme for each holiday or season.

Here are my day time picture of the Candy Corn Tree:

The other 2 trees are green trees.

This is the ACORN TREE. I used some small Indian Corn for the tree topper. This tree is a tall, narrow tree.

And here is my Day time picture of the Acorn Tree:

This is the LEAF TREE. I used some berries and flowers that are faux flowers but they look like dried flowers. This tree is a wider tree. I call it a Charlie Brown tree because it is more of a scraggly tree but I love it.

And this is my Day time pictures of the leaf tree.  I love the coloring of the leaves and they are so much prettier in person.:

What are you showcasing today? I can not wait to see everyone’s projects. I am thrilled to be able to celebrate your projects with you.

Her boys were named Cooper and Colin. We all have burdens to bear and reading a book like this could certainly give you new insight.

Thanks for your help. I will let her know. I am amazed at how much you are able to get done and homeschool too. WOW girl! :O)

Cooper and Colin are the boys names. This book sounds very moving. A teacher at the school where I work has a daughter in law who is battling brain cancer. The teacher took time off to be with her son and daughter in law and to provide strength and support for them. I feel for anyone who has to go through this especially at such a young age.

cooper and colin–I would like to read it since my son's best friend's mom died of a brain tumor and it was very hard on his friend.

8 Create in me a clean heart O God, and put a new and right spirit within me. Psalm 51:10 September 8, 2009 at 8:38 pm

Oh wow – this seems like a facinating book. Colin and Cooper (for the boy's names). I think I would read it just to see how she coped and made the best she could out of the situation. We know that God's works for good in ALL things. This looks like such a facinating story of God's goodness and promises.

That sounds like an interesting book. I think that book is something we can all learn from, finding grace in uncertainty. It matter not the situation, I think it could be applied for any of us, but it is how you deal with things, how you LIVE your life rather than just go through the motions. I am sure a very interesting read. Oh! Laura's son's names are Colin and Cooper.

Hi Cheri…

My friend, I was so excited to join in with your Holiday party! Thank you so much for hosting this!!! I just read the sweet note that you left on my Autumn dishes post…thank you so much!!! You know…I just realized that I posted Autumn dishes but haven't actually completed the project…which is to do an Autumn tablescape! Ooops…hope that's okay!

I just loved seeing a few of your Autumn projects! I think that decorating trees for each season is magnificent! I've just never thought of doing that! All three trees are so beautiful…I'd be hardpressed to pick a favorite! Although, I must say that I'm leaning toward the acorns! Hehe! Loved, loved, LOVED the night photo where I could see your beautiful trees all lit up! They're so pretty and full of that Autumn magic!!! Thank you so much for sharing your projects and instructions with us! I can't believe that your ornaments cost near to nothing…to make!!! Well done, my friend!!!

Warmest wishes and Happy Fall!!!
Chari

She had thought of etsy, but the blog idea may be better. I will let her know. Would you be available to host a giveaway on your site? Thanks again for all the wisdom and sweetness. :O)

Cooper and Colin are her two precious boys. My husband had cancer when my girls where 5 and 7 years old. He had some major surgery and was off work for over a year. That was 30 years ago and his doctors told me that he would only survive for 6 months at the most. I don't know how you do it all with home schooling; our neighbor has home schooled her children for 12 years.

18 Our really empty nest September 9, 2009 at 8:04 am

Colin and Cooper what adorable names. I love to read and read quite a bit, I have to admit I am a bit intimadated with this one, that has always been my biggest fear, dying and leaving my children even though they are now 25 and 22, I still want to be around for them for many many more years. I will surely give it a try, hopefully with a the winning book!

19 Miss Britt September 9, 2009 at 8:26 am

Sandy's sons' names are Cooper and Colin. I would love to win this book because my husband and I were only a year and a half into our marriage when he was diagnosed with degenerative bone disease in his spine. One month before he turned 28, he had part of a herniated disc cut out, bone spurs cut, and steel rods and plates and screws put into his spine. He is not responding to any pain treatments or therapies, and is in chronic pain and suffering from depression. I think this book could help me cope with his suffering and our uncertainty during this time.

20 Denise September 9, 2009 at 8:55 am

I love what you did with the trees, I have 3 slim trees that I put out at Christmas that I never thought to decorate with other themes. Maybe I should get them out and add fall leaves and candy corn like you did. Thanks for a great idea 🙂

21 Lisa September 9, 2009 at 10:18 am

WOW! Fall is bursting out all over! I like the candy corn! All your trees are lovely! I need to go over to Sandy's blog so I can enter the contest. I have seen this book mentioned several times and may have to buy it because I'm not sure I can wait to read it!
Hugs, Lisa

Hi! I just visited the Remembering Laura site! WOW! How lovely! Her sweet little boys are Cooper & Colin. I lost a cousin to a brain tumor 2 years ago March and her grandson she never met is now battling Neurobalstoma stage 4. Diagnosed at 9mths old. I really would like this book for her Daughter the baby's mother she is really a trooper. But I may end up buying it anyway as several bloggers have mentioned how wonderful it is. Thank you for offering.
Hugs, Lisa

Cheri, thanks for stopping by and becoming follower. I did link up my blog to your fall party! I will be decorating soon, promise. As far as deals on rentals, i actually did use priceline for the first time, and it worked great!! Then to make it even better when we went to get the car at the airport they asked me if i wanted to upgrade to an suv, i said no, my mid-size was fine, and we ended up getting the suv for the same price because they were out of what we had reserved! Have a great trip! Sue

31 HeathahLee September 9, 2009 at 11:16 pm

I haven't even started decorating yet! Of course, it's still hot here so I'm not really in the mood, plus I have been so busy I haven't had time to breathe, much less post! I'm looking forward to next week when my life will get back to some degree of normalcy!

32 dusty@ Idea Stalker September 9, 2009 at 11:42 pm

Wow way to use your christmas trees for more than just christmas. I love that you have done it on a budget too. Keep up the great inspiration for us all!

33 pk September 10, 2009 at 6:47 am

Hi Cheri! Nice to "meet you". Her boys names are Cooper and Colin and I was inspired by the trailer on her website, as well as your comments. That's what makes me want to read the book!

34 Our really empty nest September 10, 2009 at 8:06 am

Cheri, Thanks so much for the mention, I am thrilled!! I also did figure out how to post your blog button, but had trouble with the I'm featured one. 1 is better then neither I guess, and now since I am late for work, I better get going, lol. Have a great weekend, the hubs and I and 3 other couples are headed to our family lake house in Tennessee for a weekend of boating and lots of laughs!! Sue
