The Best Decorated House Award.

by CHERI on December 18, 2009

This was the project I got worked on last night. I hung snowflakes on both sides and plan on hanging lights in the middle, but I need to make more snowflakes so it looks as pretty as Jennifer’s .

Just so you know —  Google is still messed up.  Somehow I got all of these posts to finally post but it posted every post I have ever done BUT I did a post after this one to see if it would post and it didn’t—so I will be here posting away and please keep checking in till I get it all figured out.

ITS SO VERY CHRISTMASY–show off your yard, your home, your neighbor’s decor or your favorite decor of the year-even if you don’t know their name.

Each year we take our kids around to different neighborhoods and let them choose their favorite decorated home. Sometimes they pick something right away, other times they want it to go on their LIST, until they choose a favorite. Each child gets to pick a favorite. We have always gone on Dec 24 but this year to make things a little less hectic we are going to go on Dec 23. We deliver, to the winning family a platter full of our home made goodies and a note letting them know they have won the BEST DECORATED HOME AWARD by (insert that child’s name) for (insert the year). We put scripture about the true meaning of Christmas as well. Our kids love it, they are so thrilled to pick their houses and they begin looking for their favorite as soon as people start putting their lights up. It is a good lesson for each of them to focus on others, rather than just on themselves and all the things they want.

People are always so thrilled and want us to come in and visit with them-which we politely decline (or with 4 kids we might not get all the platters delivered).

I will have to post a picture of our neighbors yard-he goes ALL out, it’s like a carnival over there. My battery went dead so no pictures tonight-at least for now.

I have a fun Favorite Christmas Movie poll click HERE to vote for your favorite.

Need some new recipes for the holidays?
I have 4 e-books each $4–Thank you to each of you who have purchased so far, we appreciate it very much. It is going towards Christmas for our children this year, while my sweet hubby is in school and out of work right now.
click HERE to find out what is in each e-book.

The snowflakes are gorgeous! I love the tradition of having your kids choose their favorite home/yard decorations. Delivering treats is such a wonderful way to teach them about giving to others. You are an amazing mom!
