OK on to the BLUE MOON
When someone uses the phrase ONCE IN A BLUE MOON it is referring to a special event. A Blue Moon is not really BLUE in color it is just a name like Harvest Moon or New Moon. So it is not the color that makes it special, it is when we have 2 full moons in one month. The second full moon is called a Blue Moon. We have a new full moon every 29 1/2 days, or basically 12 in a year but every 2 1/2 years we get a Blue Moon. The last time we had a Blue Moon was May of 2007. Tonight is a Blue Moon and the next one won’t occur until Aug 2012. To have a Blue Moon on New Years Eve is even more rare. The last time it happened was 1990 and it won’t happen again for 19 more years.
So tonight is a special night. It will be another 19 years before this event takes place again. My big boys will be 30 and 31 years old when this event takes place again and they will be talking about this event with their children. My two little ones will be 21 and 23 so we will most likely be experiencing this event all by our selves the next time this event comes around on New Years Eve.
I do not look to the stars to tell my future for I know my future is held in the hands of the Creator who made those stars. It is interesting that it is taking place on New Years when we bid the past, farewell and welcome in the New Year and look to the future with hope and optimism for better things to come. I am all about a New Year and better things to come. Top wish on my list a great new job for Prince Charming.
Here are a few FUN ways you can celebrate the New Year and the Blue Moon by making a Wish on the Blue Moon…
Magically Charge a Lucky Talisman
On the evening of the Blue Moon take any piece of silver jewelery or a silver coin, make a special wish and say it aloud 3 times. Place the jewelery or coin under the full Moon overnight. Silver is associated with the Moon and the Goddess and is the best material for use in a Blue Moon ritual. Don’t worry if you cannot physically see the Moon, as its special energy is still present. Once the jewelery or coin has been charged by the energy of the Blue Moon, it will act as a lucky talisman to allow your wishes to come true.
Wishing Well
On the evening of the Blue Moon take a silver coin, concentrate on the wish you want fulfilled, repeat aloud your wish and toss the coin into any body of water. This could be a wishing well, a river, the ocean or a lake.
The element of water is associated with the Moon and is utilised in positive Magic particularly associated with love.
Moon Bathe
On the Blue Moon evening, undress and stand naked under the full Moon. ‘Bathe’ by visualizing the moonbeams cleansing you from head to foot. Once you feel thoroughly cleansed, say aloud 3 times your special wish.
SO If you decide to do all 3 to ensure your wish comes true, you will be standing on a beach or in front of a fountain, naked as a blue jay, saying your wish out loud 3 times and making sure your coin, as it is tossed into the water is under the moons beans all night so it can get the moons energy…as the police take you away for a breathalizer test. Maybe your wish should be to not be arrested…
HappyNewYear
I hope it is a better year for all of us. I wish we didn’t have to loose another soldier but I am grateful to each soldier who stands up and fights for our freedom. Our family is truly grateful, without them we would not be a FREE country. I hope each of you has a wonderful time of celebration tonight. I am slowly trying to recover from this bug. My head is still full and my sense of balance isn’t quite right so I will be heading to bed — I’m sure before the New Year comes in. If Prince Charming did take me out, everyone would think I was tipsy any way, from that sense of balance problem. I can make a room spin just by turning my head to answer someone’s question.
Same for me! I hope this works. So very sorry you're having all these "glitches" ~ not fun at all.
Wishing you a very Happy New Year!

I am going to try the wishing with the coin. Thanks for that tip on the Blue Moon.
A very Happy New Years to you Cheri and your family. I really have enjoyed picking up bits of information, lots of cooking and crafting tips and reading your life's journey through you blog.
I'm so sad that it's going to be a cloudy, dreary night, so we won't get to see the blue moon. But the other night when me and my sweetie were in the hot tub, it was a clear night and there was a big ring around the moon.
Just wanted to let you know that I started writing a new blog. I'd be honored if you would check it out. wwww.sahmbiechronicles.blogspot.com

I did the moon bathe. I will probably get pneumonia. Just kidding. Hope your computer is fixed. I don't know if mine is or not. I just keep typing away. Blessings QMM

Cheri, i just wanted to let you know, at the party we went to tonight, I passed out silver coins that I had brought, and everyone went outside and made a wish and threw them in the pond! I also placed a sterling silver cross necklace and said my wish and placed it outside under the blue moon! I plan on giving it to my future daughter in law! I wished for a happy marriage and healthy grandchildren, someday! Thanks, we all had fun! Sue
