Century Old Jar with dispenser lid
Description
The pint jar in this soap dispenser is at least 100 years old with beautiful, wavy, blue-green glass. Add a touch of history to your bathroom or kitchen sink. Or set it on your desk with hand sanitizer or lotion.
Dimensions:
7 inches tall
3 inches wide
holds 2 cups (one pint) of liquid
This jar was produced by Ball Brothers of Muncie, Indiana for home canning sometime between 1896 and 1910. The logo is called a “3 L” because the line that underlines “Ball” makes a loop that looks like another “L.”
The shape of this jar is really interesting. It’s a shoulder seal, which means a rubber ring would sit on the shoulder of the jar–the place where the bottom of the lid meets the glass. Today that place is a protrusion of glass called a “bead.” Another thing to notice is the cylindrical shape with squared off shoulders. It was made this way to look like an old tin can, the predecessor to glass canning jars.
The greenish blue glass was a result of minerals in the Lake Michigan sand of northern Indiana and the amount of oxygen that got into a batch of glass.
We make the pump lids out of vintage zinc lids and attach a brand new pump part. Because the zinc lids come from our collection, they are not all the same–some look more rustic than others.
IMPORTANT: In your note to seller during checkout, please tell us how rustic you want your lid to look. Please choose “very rustic,” “moderately rustic,” or “slightly rustic.” Thank you!
the winners for this week will be announced on Sunday, Feb 21
I will post to these parties:

You do not have to sign up for the newsletter again. I did not get the info out on that. I was so busy. I worked many nights till 2 am or later and then up at 7 back at the computer trying to get it all done for this weekend. I want to be rich and pay someone for the next makeover, I just hope I never have to move again.

From what I’ve read, it’s a lot of work transferring a blog over and I’m sure yours was double because you were doing other work on your blog, too.

Hi Cheri! How’s it been going? I’ve been going through your blog tutorials & am learning a bit, slowly but surely! I think I missed the 2nd week of giveaways, my mother-in-law passed away. But I’m back! I’m already a follower & have your button on my blog. You’ve got so many lovely items in your giveaway! So much fun! Leslie Anne
