I want to introduce you to Danielle. She is so sweet and you know I love getting to know you gals. She is a newer follower but it feels like she has been here from the beginning. She is so creative and I knew she would show you gals a great tutorial and she sure has hit the mark.
I can’t wait to “cyber meet” their new puppy and all those real life babies some day. I remember when we got our first and only dog-rest his sweet little BIG soul– he was a Chow Chow– and we thought getting up in the night to let him out, as a puppy, while he was potty training for a WHOLE WEEK– was preparing us for being parents some day. Boy did we have a lot to learn. Once again this is a sure sign that God has a sense of humor. And don’t think we ever had unrealistic expectations for our children-after all the furry kid potty trained in one week-actually we were pretty lucky G1 potty trained in 1 day.
If any of you would like to be considered to be a guest blogger send me an e-mail and we can talk about it. cheri@itssoverycheri.blogspot.com
and don’t forget to RE-Sign Up to FOLLOW me and join the give-a-way. I LOVE all the gifts don’t you. Of Course I do since I picked them all. I always pick things for you gals that I would want to win if I was joining a give-a-way.
I know you gals want to see what you are going to learn this week so I will quit chattering (even though this is my blog) and let Danielle take it away.
I am so excited to be here at Tutorial Thursday! Thank you Cheri for this fun opportunity and chance to share with your readers.
Let me introduce myself. My name is Danielle and I write Life on Dahlia Lane. I’m a newlywed from California and while my husband and I don’t have any immediate plans for children, we are expecting our first fur baby, Zoey the English Bulldog, to be born in 3-4 weeks.
I started blogging around 7 months ago and use my page as an outlet to share all the things I love to occupy my time with: cooking, baking, sewing, crafting, entertaining and my family.
Let me tell you that while I am fairly creative and resourceful, I am not artistic at all! Painting, drawing, sketching, coloring inside the lines – none of these are my thing. I have faith that any of you out there can make this!
Materials used
9 – 10x10in canvases
1.25 yards pre-washed fabric
I used 1/2 yd brown and 3/4 yd green
Staple gun & light duty staples
Mod podge
Paint brushes (narrow and medium width)
White acrylic paint
Butcher paper, cut to 30x30in
X-acto knife
9 sawtooth picture hangers
Step 1: Cut fabric squares to 12in x 12 in (or add 2 inches to the measurement of your canvas).
Step 2: Center canvas on one square of material. Pull edges very taught and staple into place. I found it was easiest to staple all sides and then fold in the corners. Repeat for the remaining 8 canvases.
Step 3: Paint canvases with two thick layers of Mod Podge, allowing to dry 24 hours between coats. (Sorry, no photo. Who wants to watch paint dry?!)
Step 4: Draw (or have someone else draw) your desired shape onto a piece of butcher paper. Cut out with an X-acto knife. Now you have a stencil!
Step 5: Push all your canvases together to make one large canvas. Tape stencil onto canvas and paint with white acrylic paint. Perfection not required.
Step 6: Carefully remove stencil. Separate canvas pieces, touch up any little smudges with a damp paint brush (or Q-tip), and allow to dry 24 hours.
Step 7: Find the center of your canvas and nail in sawtooth hangers. Repeat for remaining 8 pieces.
Step 8: Hang with pieces slightly separated (I placed mine 3 inches apart) and admire!
The house is still a work in progress, but I think the hallway is looking a lot more welcoming. What do you think?
Thanks again for having me at It’s So Very Cheri! I have enjoyed sharing with all of you and hope that you’ll visit me at Life on Dahlia Lane.
Thanks so much Danielle, now I have yet another project to add to my never ending list. I hope everyone is finding their way around the new lay out. If you are having any problems please let me know. I am reading every comment, even if I have not responded yet. I am trying to get several huge projects done for the new site. You may wonder why I ever moved from blogger in the first place, especially when I did not have everything in place. That is a complete post in and of itself but for now I will just say they had messed up my old blog sooooo many times and I wanted to get moved before any huge crash took place.
I do have some new things and once I get all the buttons made you will be able to find some of this info a little easier. Here is my current schedule:
SUNDAY: A Sunday Verse with beautiful photos
MONDAY:Â Its So Very Creative
TUESDAY: Its So Very RENOVATED
WEDNESDAY:Â Its So Very Celebrated
THURSDAY: I Followed the TUTE at Its So Very Cheri and learned how to…
FRIDAY: Open for special events (and I am working on some fun things that I am praying come to fruition)
If there is something you would like to see on my blog let me know. I plan on adding a recipe party and having some information in the Home School area as well.
