I just LOVE this idea. They look great and what a savings.
Sarah from A Little of This – A Little of That
saw a show featuring how to make curtain rods inexpensively. She took the idea and ran with it–WAY TO GO SARAH.
Sarah did the price break down on PVC pipe versus regular curtain rods.
This price is what it would cost her to do 20+ feet of wall space.
1 3/8″ Drapery Rods = $77.94 (from Lowes)
1 3/8″ Drapery Rods = $150.00 (Bed Bath and Beyond)
1 3/8″ Drapery Rods = $159.98 (Amazon.com)
or 1 1/4″ PVC Pipe = $9.09
Holy Money Saver! So, PVC Pipe it was.
She added in some finials and brackets.
Here is the spray paint she used that matched the finials/sconces-Valspar Velvet Brown.
She felt like the PVC looked too ‘matte’ after the spray paint, so she did a few coats of a clear Gloss.
Wow. I would have never guessed they were PVC pipes.
Installation time–First she installed the brackets.
Then VERY CAREFULLY slid in the poles.
I wonder if she had sanded over the pipe if it would have taken off just enough of the slick surface so the paint would have adhered more–just my rambling thoughts.
Then came the curtains……. I am in LOVE with that chocolate and cream damask fabric and the chocolate and cream cord.
DELICIOUS!
Back to the installation–
She justhot glued the finials onto the end.
Can I just say WOWZER WOWZER WOWZER.

Wow indeed. I think you’re right about sanding the pipe surface to rough it up a little bit. The paint should adhere better. But, tough ups work too!
Have a lovely Easter!
Wow! for sure and oh my goodness how beautiful! Great job! Have a blessed day!
Great idea……Just wanted to wish you a Happy Easter!.

Wow! Using pvc pipe cuts the cost of drapery rods to a minimum. Great thrifty idea. I always see the finials at yard sales. I love the look and for so little. I have just the window, thanks for the idea! Happy easter, Pat
That’s gorgeous – such an impact, too, on all those windows!
What a great idea! Looks like the real thing ~ just love it.
I’ve missed you! In the midst of getting settled from this move. It has been a challenge.
