I have a book that tells the story behind the HYMN, calleed Then Sings My Soul.

I wanted to end the weeks of Gratefullness with the song Great Is Thy Faithfulness and share with you the story behind the song.

Author: Thomas Obediah Chisholm

The author was born in a log cabin in Kentucky.  He came to Christ at the age of 27.  His health was unstable.  He had bouts of  illness and times where he had gainful emplyment.  Even though he had ups and downs he was able to discover new blessings from God every morning.  The 3rd chapter of Lamentations became precious to him: (Lam. 3:22-23) His compassions fail not.  They are new every morning; Great is Your Faithfulness.

The song gained recognotion at Moody Bible Institute but still remained relatively unknown until George Beverly Shea (song leader with the Billy Graham Crusades) made the song popular all over the world.

GREAT IS THY FAITHFULNESS

Great is Thy faithfulness, O God my Father,

There is no shadow Of turning with Thee;

Thou changest not, Thy compassions they fail not;

As Thou hast been Thou forever wilt be.
