We have a guest today showing a fun tutorial on aging a sheet music bunting.
Hello all!! I am Angie with The Country Chic Cottage. I am thrilled to be here on It’s So Very Cheri!! Many thanks to Cheri for having me! Come on over to my blog for thrifty transformations, decor, tutorials, and crafts! For today, I really wanted a bunting banner for my shelf in the living room…
See that welcome…doesn’t that look like aged sheet music?? Well…there is a trick! You will need:
- Mod Podge
- Letters (in this case “welcome”)
- Ribbon
- Hot glue
- Sheet music
- Sewing patterns —– the secret ingredient!!
Seriously any sheet music will work for this. The sheet music I used is vintage, but you could print some off of the internet. I cut my sheets in half first.
Then cut a triangle out of each half.
Secret ingredient time! The sewing pattern will give this sheet music an old, worn appearance. Cut your sewing patterns into slightly larger triangles than your sheet music. Use areas of your pattern that have no writing or lines.
Mod podge your sewing patten on top of your sheet music and add your letter on top of that.
See how the sewing pattern darkens and ages the sheet music…
Let your pieces dry and then trim your sewing pattern to the size of the sheet music triangle.
Then just attach your triangles to your ribbon using hot glue…
Hang it up and enjoy!!
Lovely, worn, aged appearance for very little effort!
I love that aged look! The sheet music almost looks brittle with age!! This was the perfect addition to my spring shelf display…
“Welcome” to my home!
Plus oh so much more! Come and join us at the cottage anytime!
Thanks again Cheri for having me!
