I love the saying by Ralph Waldo Emerson

So when faced with challenges and you don’t know what direction to go what is your internal compass that you rely on to guide you in the right direction?
I was reading about Ralph Waldo Emerson and discovered that his first wife died at 20 years old. When I look at the struggles of life, I try to always remind myself that I have my health and my husband and children are healthy. We have not had a child die in a car crash or been abducted. When I compare life’s struggles to others I feel quite blessed.
I have a tutorial for the weathered wood board over at the DIY Club.
You will need:
Vinyl from Ten 23 Designs
Wood
DecoArt-Heritage Brick, Cranberry Wine and Alzarin Crimson
DecoArt Glaze (I mixed mine with Graphite and Raw Umber)
Purdy paint brush or sponge applicator
Dischanger

that is one of my alltime fave quotes. i think emmy was named after emerson, thought not on purpose(it was subconscious!)… i was an english major so my kids are sawyer and emerson. 🙂
Emerson’s an interesting literary character (he comes across as more than a bit stuck up at times), but it’s hard to ignore his wonderful way of creating phrases. I have a stamp with one of his quotes that I used for easter cards (blogged here: http://little-toil-of-love.blogspot.com/2011/04/amen-of-nature-is-always-flower-emerson.html). It reads “The amen of nature is always a flower,” which just speaks to the beauty of spring.
I hadn’t heard this quote before, but I’ll keep this one tucked in my arsenal of inspiring quotes to ward off creative blocks.
This is such a beautiful quote, never heard it before, thanks for sharing!
