I made 5 PB Knock Off Buoys. Here are two more of the designs.
It is super easy to make your own and will save you quite a bit of money too.
Pottery Barn has 3 sizes. They run (small) $19, (medium) $24, and (large) $29. You can buy all 3 for $69.
Using posts, a compound miter saw, drill, paint, vinyl and twine I created these knock offs.
Measure down and make marks for your cuts.
DO NOT make the top a point.
I made several sizes so adjust how far down you cut so it looks balanced.
Make your cuts
Mark the next side and cut again.
My husband would cut while I marked the cuts making the job so pretty quick.
Once all of your cuts are made paint them.
I added vinyl letters but you could use a stencil and paint as well.

You inspired me to make some myself! I am currently working on some and will be glad to send you a photo of the finished projects once done. The project is relatively simple. If you are not woodworked able, there are places that will cut the angles for you. Beware – it is pricy to get the cutting done by someone else. I am woodwork challenged so a friend of mine did it for me. Thanks for such a great idea! I’m planning on making some for Christmas to give as gifts as well. Ahoy!
Tammy–what a great idea. They would be treasured gifts.
