Today we have a guest-and sweet friend, Gail.
Hello to all of Cheri’s friends! I’m gail and I write a blog called My Repurposed Life. If you’ve never visited me, let me tell you a little about me.
From my profile:
I am a mom, aunt, sister, cousin and friend to many. I am in the process of repurposing my life, after many life changing incidents. I love to look for trash to turn into treasures! It is what makes me happy, and keeps me busy.
I love to DIY on the cheap! I can show you how to change things up on a very meager budget.
I did a makeover on my oak cabinets:

Because I couldn’t afford a new floor, I painted my vinyl floor:

I love to repurpose “found” items into new functional pieces different from their former selves.
I love repurposing old windows into cabinets.
I’m probably most known for my Headboard Bench Tutorial
I am so happy to fill in for Cheri while she’s so busy. Cheri and I go way back, long before I joined The DIY Club.
Today I have a pretty simple project. I rarely throw anything away, because I can always find a new use for it.

Way back in November (?) I started working on my kitchen. I had this microwave cart.

I changed it up a little to hold my microwave, and a small convection oven. To do that I had to remove the doors.

While I was looking for a piece of wood to use for a sign, I stumbled across this door. I had already cut the vinyl with my Silhouette, and when I laid the vinyl on this little door, it fit perfectly!

I sanded it a little and painted it with an oops red.

I drilled two extra holes for additional knobs and sanded the red a little, but then I decided I wanted it “aged” a little.

I used one of my favorite “chip” brushes to give it a dry brush effect.

I sorted through some of my knobs to find three that I thought would look great. (See that larger scalloped flower looking piece? Look for that next week)

Three little knobs, perfect for t-towels in the kitchen, or some of those cute mason jar candle holders in the bathroom.

Cheri, thanks so much for allowing me to say hello to your friends! You all are welcome to stop by my place anytime! The door is always open!

Ever since I found our Restore, I’ve been looking for different cabient door ideas. They are such a great resource for that type of thing. Thanks for this!
Gail, always cute, always creative.
love the red- it’s a happy cherry red!
I always enjoy your repurposed projects. I wouldn’t even consider the red an “oops” …..love the color and what you did with the simple door.
very impressive! I like it

Super job! There’s nothing more satisfying than taking something old and restoring it ~ and doing it yourself! 🙂
