I found great information about pumpkin varieties at All About Pumpkins. Two other sites with great info are Haunted Bay and Intervale Farm both have a great list showing a range in the varieties of pumpkins and squash. Sometimes what we call a pumpkin is technically a squash.
Many times I will buy a variety of different ones, wash them, buff and polish them up with a little vaseline and then after they have been on display we will cook them up and eat them.

Thanks so much for the information on the pumpkins and squash. I have been looking for this information for along time.
We bought some squash mix and it produced, among others, a couple we never saw before. So I looked here and found it, I feel better it’s not a triffid. We LOVE patty pans and look for new colors etc since they popped out of a compost heap we had. This year the compost is producing, I think, zukes. Go figure. Squash are so much fun….on this street in the countryside of Saratoga Springs we have a neighbor who quietly produces multi-hundred pound Hubbards almost every year! My hero! 😎
Thanks for all you do!
Sincerely,
will shirley

Thanks Shannon.
I always love getting some of the unique colored ones for Fall.
