Santa Pillow
I received pillow covers from Canvas Corp and decided I was going to make some pillows for the holidays.
I had a couple of ideas in mind for what I wanted to make and that usually means I know exactly what I want to do I just have to find what I want to get it done. I was Stumbling. Do you Stumble? It’s fun!!! I came across a pillow done by Crap I’ve Made and knew that was the image I wanted so rather than search I just enlarged hers and used tracing paper and with a fine pencil traced my image onto my pillow form. My pencil lines were faint and I knew the paint would cover them up so I wasn’t concerned with the pencil lines. I placed pieces of cardboard inside the pillow form so the paint would not soak through to the back of the pillow.

Then I mixed together my Alazarian paint and my DecoArt Fabric Medium together and painted it on. Have you ever used the fabric medium? It is a brilliant idea. You can mix it with any DecoArt color and create a custom fabric paint in whatever color you want. You can mix colors until you get just the color that you want. AWESOME!!!

Back to the project. I let it dry over night and the next morning I took my Sanding Bug and went over the paint to create an old grain sack look.
I love how some of the sanded paint got into the fabric around the edges of Santa and it looks “pink-ish” like old fabric.
I then took a canvas star from Canvas Corp and painted it –and once dry–sanded it and wrote DEC 25. I then stitched it up to the corner.
I had it all done and my 6 year old asked me what I had made–I told him it was a pillow (there was no pillow in it so it was flat). He looked at me strange and said “I don’t think this pillow would be very comfortable”. Now I just need to get a pillow to stuff it so it will be comfortable and fun for the holidays.
This was such a fin and easy project.
You can see my other pillow project over {HERE}. It looks totally different.
