O Holy Night

I took a canvas wrapped frame from Canvas Corp and painted it black. I then added DecoArt’s TEXTURE product over it.
I applied the texture crackle and allowed it to dry.
I love the look of their weathering products. Weathered wood is my other favorite.
Here is the difference between the two.
Texture gives a more “bumpy”, “years of layered paint” look:
Weathered Wood give a smooth crackled look: (this project will be up tomorrow)
Then went over the texture crackle with black and asphaltum DecoArt paints.

OK-back to the project–I brushed my paints on with one of my sponge applicators from Rockler.
Applying it with the sponge allowed me to drag the paint and have both colors showing through.
Once dry I used one of my paint pens to write out the words to O HOLY NIGHT. I set the canvas by the old manger that I was given. It was the one my parents put out as we were growing up.

The sign you made is great, but it’s the manger I have to comment on. I have the exact same one. The Man & I bought it 42 years ago for our first Christmas together after we married. It has been some place in our home every Christmas since then. When our first grandchildren (twin girls) were toddling around, getting into things, I kept finding Baby Jesus or some of the sheep, in some very strange places. After that particular Christmas, I glue-gunned all the pieces in place & just store it that way. For many years, I tried to add some light to the manger (because it is pretty dark) & finally this year, got one of the popular battery-powered LED short strings & hid it among the straw. It’s one of the first items I display each year & plan to do so for many years to come.
