Who doesn’t like tax beneifts? I think everyone would raise their hands on that one.
Honest to goodness tax deductions are always on our minds. Aren’t they?
I have an honest to goodness “REAL” easy way to help others and help you with your taxes.

I do not do garage sales because they are just not worth my time or the money they cost to do them. In order to do a garage sale you need to purchase ad space, signs, stickers for pricing items, not to mention the time it takes to do all of the pricing, separating, organization and then all of those people who want the item for 10 cents rather than 25 cents… Garage sales really net you about 10% of the original purchase price. The first thing you need to ask yourself when you get ready to purchase it is how much do I really want and need it and how long will I get used out of it. Then you need to determine if you really want to spend the money on it.

OK–so the purchase was made and now your child no longer fits into it or you no longer want that particular item in your home so it is time to get rid of it. I would rather donate my items to someone who can still get some good use out of my items. It takes me just a few minutes to drive them to the donation site of my choosing. I get to deduct the mileage plus everything I dropped off. If you go to Its Deductible and sign up–ITS FREE–you can get started.
I have used Its Deductible for about 8 years now. When I first tried it you had to pay for it and it was still worth it, now it is FREE and part of the turbo tax site.
You get a lot more in deductions than you will get at most garage sales and you can deduct up to $5,000 a year–that’s about $1,500 back. I don’t think there are very many people who can claim to those type of garage sales earnings year after year.

So go check it out and get your deductions on the right foot for this year.

Thanks for the great tip, Cheri! I’m definitely going to do this THIS year!
