Something most of you probably do not know about me–I sold diamonds, pearls and gems, in a jewelry store, when I was in college. I learned so much about jewelry. It is so unique because no two items are the same. It is not like working in a clothing store where someone can bring you the same sweater in a small rather than a medium. Jewelry is one of a kind. It is unique and special. It is romantic. The shape, size and color will never be exactly the same with any two pieces. Taken care of-fine jewelry can last, not only your life time but is a great thing to pass down for generations to come.
Did you know that freshwater pearls are considered the oldest gem, often known as the “Queen of Gems”?
There are natural pearls and cultured pearls. They are similar in how the pearls are created. Natural pearls are naturally created when a foreign material enters the mussel and can not be discharged. The mussels then coats the object with nacre which creates a pearl. Freshwater pearls originated in the lakes around China. The Chinese people found that they could encourage mussels to create these pearls quickly and in vast quantities. For cultured freshwater pearls, workers would slightly open the shell and place a live mantle tissue from another mussel into the slits; which in doing so creates nacre production for the mussel. Most freshwater pearls are entirely made of nacre, just like the natural freshwater pearls and the saltwater cousins. The only main difference between the two, natural and cultured, is that they start not by chance, man deliberately intervenes with nature it place an irritant. Natural pearls are very rare to find, but can be very beautiful, however, due to overfishing, pollution and other factors makes them harder to find without too many imperfections.
I am working with My Freshwater Pearls to help get the word out about their great prices. They offer Necklaces, Earrings, Bracelets, Bridal Jewelry, Pendants, Anklets, Children’s Jewelry, and Sets at up to 75% off.

Well, I’m allergic to anything but real gold (my ears puff up and protest) but they’d make a lovely gift for Mother’s Day! 🙂

I’d wear them to church on Mother’s day!
Hi Cheri! Pink is my favorite color – any shade, so naturally I LOVE these pearls! I would wear them on Easter first, then Mother’s Day 🙂 Already following!

1 would where the pearls while vacuuming. You have to try the stereotype at least once to break in a set of pearls, if you are lucky enough to have some. Plus, it makes housework seem like a treat 🙂
Liked My Freshwater Pearls on facebook.
Thanks.
I’m already your follower.
I wouldn’t wear them. I would give them to my daughter (she is 19). She would adore and treasure them.
