Martin and Gracia Burnham were the missionaries that were captured in the night.  They were celebrating their anniversary but in the middle of the night were taken as hostages.  For over a year, they were running for their lives in the jungle.

Gracia and I attended the same high school.  Her little sister Mary and I were only a grade apart.

I am finishing up Gracia’s first book  In The Presence Of My Enemies.

I started reading it 2 days ago and I pick it up and read any time I have a few minutes to read more.  Knowing her and her sweet sweet spirit makes it more real but I know ANY ONE would thoroughly benefit from reading it.

Their amazing attitudes in the midst of the struggles that they faced is such a testimony of God’s grace. I am not saying they didn’t have their moments–and I am sure if it were me I would too –probably more than Gracia had but it was amazing how they would respond to these people who had ripped them from their lives.
