I saw this project over on Pinterest and wanted to knock it off. The original pin came from Oodle Kadoodle Primitive but they did not offer the original source and there was no tutorial so I decided to wing it.
I guessed on how many flags I would need. I called around to several locations pricing them to see how many came in the package and the price. Some were in packages of 50 others in packages of 100. I figured I needed about 1500 or so. I them looked on Amazon and Ebay. The best prices I found was on ebay. The person was selling 10 packages and each package had 144 for a total of 1,440 flags. I decided to order TWO SETS so I would have 2,880–just in case. I am glad I ordered two bags because I LOVE how full the wreath is.
*** Oriental Trading has great pricing on the flag picks. They are currently our of stock and these flags are a little bigger than the ones I used. Mine were 3/4″ x 1″.
You will need
2 eager helpers to hand you the flags. If you don’t have 2 eager helpers the project may go faster.
I grabbed my Styrofoam wreath form.
I spray painted it RED
Once dry I visually divided my form into 10 sections. I wanted to make sure to work in sections so I would have the entire wreath balanced. I filled each section with an entire bag of flags then moved on to the next section. I ended up using 13 bags of flags.
Styrofoam Crafts has a blog–Crafts and Coffee and a Styrofoam Crafts facebook page.

What a great project…and so beautifully patriotic!! I’m thinking that “Oriental Traders” may also be a good place to check for pricing. Thanks for sharing the tutorial and your lovely finished wreath!
Absolutely adorable!!! Love the hint about dividing the wreath into sections.
Adorable! And I LOVE your new blog design and layout.

Thanks so much Anne.
Karen that is a great idea. Oriental Traders would have been a better deal than what I found on ebay. Here is the link to the OT flags. http://www.orientaltrading.com/usa-flag-picks-a2-9_10-12-1.fltr?Ntt=flag+picks
