You may or may not have noticed the new button in my header.  It is my new HOMETALK button.  I would love if you headed over and followed me there.  You can get so many amazing tips and information over there.  It is kind of like Pinterest but it is totally around HOME projects.  You won’t find any recipes but you will find information on how to do projects.

I wanted to add a Hometalk Social Media Button to my header so my readers could find me over there, but there aren’t a lot of hometalk social media buttons out there.  Here is what I did to create my button.

If you are a super techy person this tutorial may drive you crazy so maybe you should run and hide your head under a pillow but it is how I got mine done in a matter of minutes and it didn’t cost me anything to make it.

STEP #1`  I took one of the buttons that I had already downloaded.

Step #2:  I opened it up in Photoshop.

Step #3:  I found a color that was pretty close to the bottom color.

With each new line I moved my color up just a tiny bit on the chart.

You can see the lines in the larger pixel but when the button is small and added to my header it all blends together and you don’t see the lines.

I finished up the dark edge on the left hand side of the button.

Step #4:  I added the home logo to the button.

It was that easy.  There are lots of buttons out there if you want to use a free social icon but just in case you need a button and can’t find one now you know how to create your own.
