Reduce Your Energy Bills

Any time someone sees the word DUCK they instantly think Duck Dynasty lately– well this post is not about Duck Dynasty– it is about saving energy bills.

We just moved back to KC and will be looking for a home but in the mean time we are in a short term rental and while it is a nice home and in a nice subdivision, the insulation in this house is TERRIBLE. We are dealing with all time lows in the last 17 years.

We had not been in the house a week when we went to the store and picked up some DUCK window kits. We noticed a big difference in the room temperatures.

They are pretty easy to install.

*The kit comes with double sticky tape and the plastic film.
*You will need a pair of scissors and a blow dryer.

Step 1–apply the double sticky tape. I folded the edge of the tape so it was easier to pull the paper off.
Step 2–peel off the paper from the front side of the tape.
Step 3–apply the plastic film- getting it as tight as you can and as wrinkle free as possible.
Step 4–trim the plastic- leaving enough for shrinkage.
Step 5–blow dry to shrink the plastic for a tight seal.

The plastic shrinks up and you barely notice it is even there.

Our view is not obstructed from having the plastic up.

This can also help with your electric bills in the summer.

We have been noticing a draft in the sockets- so we are planning on getting some socket insulators.
