What time did you get up

by CHERI on December 26, 2009

What time were you woke up Christmas morning?
(there are 3 separate posts tonight)
We headed to be at 3 a.m.  I jumped in the shower and then collapsed into bed.  At 5 am we heard the big boys alarm going off. (that was after 1 and a half  hours of sleep for moi) Prince Charming ran in to turn it off.  The damage was done, the big boys were awake.  They had not set their alarm, they think G3 (4 yrs old) must have been playing with the buttons and turned it on.  We convinced them to go back to sleep but an hour later (now a total of 2 1/2 hours of sleep) they were in our room-they had been up for an hour just looking at the gifts, trying to guess what they were getting.  We tried to convince them to go back to bed, the 2 little ones were still asleep but they quietly stayed up — Just LOOKING.  We got one more hour at 7 am they could not wait any more (that would be 3 1/2 hours of total sleep-in segments).  Lots of coffee to get through the day.

So what time did you get to bed and what time were you drug out of bed?

Wow, I thought I had it bad. I went to bed at 1:30AM after going to mass and was up at 6:30AM when my youngest woke up. I was so excited myself, that I got right up. Coffee and Christmas fun helped me get through the day!

Hope you enjoyed the holiday!

Oh, there are advantages to being old….er. But I miss the fun of seeing little faces all excited through sleepy eyes. Enjoy it now….
Glad you had a fun Christmas.

I went to bed at midnight and the little princess came to my bed at 530. I showed her outside and said look it is dark still night so go back to sleep. She did until her 6 year old brother came in at 7am. It was nice to sleep that late – first time in 18 years.

Oh, I don't miss that part of Christmas morn at all … but just miss the kid-lings … they grew up too fast, now in their own homes going thru all the parenting oooh's & ahhh's we went thru. We got up early to go to Mass tho. Then we rushed home to prepare the food before we were converged upon.

We do ham but this year we did a big brunch … excellent idea. Then pick at the food all day.

Glad you had a lovely day …

We went to bed at around midnight and got up at 6am when my oldest (19yo) daughter called to say she was on her way over so I should get the cinnamon rolls in the oven ASAP! 🙂

We did lasagna on Christmas Eve and just had munchies and leftovers on Christmas day. We have always done our big dinner on Christmas Eve.

Well, ummm… I…. ummm…. kinda/sorta tried to wake up my husband at 4:45. No kids to wake us up this year. Sad!

Oh, you poor thing, you didn't get much sleep! We went to bed at 11:30pm and got up at 6:50am. I found out that Sloan (our 11yr old) didn't sleep at all that night! I hope you got to sleep in this morning! I did! That's awful about the ham! We cooked a turkey a neighbor gave us one yr and when it was all done cooking we found out it had freezer burn so bad you couldn't eat it! It didn't smell funny at all when it was cooking.

Actually, we celebrate our Christmas on Christmas Eve. No little ones at home, so I got to sleep in. My son who lives with us got up at 10a.m. and then we opened up gifts. The rest of the day was spent totally doing nothing but listening to music, watching Christmas movies, and eating all the good food!

I hate to say it but I slept until 10! My sisters kids didn't come over til 11 am so we had a quite morning! I am usually up regardless but it was the only day this week I could sleep!
Hope it was worth it!

Cheri, It is so refreshing to read your story and hear that we were not the only ones living on coffee yesterday!
Miss Sarah woke us up at 1230 am and then the 3 of them were having a "party" in Lil Tony's room at 230am! Everyone went back to bed and woke up again at 6am by the dog!!
Sleep in this morning!!
Happy Holiday's!!

I finally finished up some last minute handmade gifts at midnight and heard a little whisper in my ear at 6 am saying "mama, santa was here, it's time to get up!" my little guys were so excited, there was no holding them back! I made coffee before we started to open gifts though! There was no getting through the day without it!

We were in bed by midnight…we only have one teenager at home now so my husband and I got up before 8am and woke her up. We then called son #2 who lives next door and woke up his little famiily to come over to open gifts. My older kids have always slept until 7am or later on Christmas day…I feel very lucky to have such heavy sleepers!

Lil D wakes up like clock work at 7:20 something…he still doesn't quite get it maybe next year when he's 3 he'll be up earlier then normal. I was good this year and had everything ready way ahead of time…so I got to bed around 11:30…of course I was up at 3:30 playing Santa for Mr. T…then couldn't sleep and was up till 5…still more sleep then you but not as much as I would have liked! Can't complain though…it was a great day! Sounds like you had a great time too!

Oh you made me smile! I went to bed at 11:00 and up at 5:00. That was do-able.
Hope you had a great Christmas,
Blessings,

My husband and I got to bed after midnight on Christmas Eve. We tried hard to sleep in on Christmas Day, but our internal work alarms had us stirring before 7 a.m. We were so dissapointed. So we got up and got packed before driving an hour and a half to spend the day with my parents and sisters.

Me and the Mr. were planning on getting up early or as soon as we hear the kids get up. At 10:30 am (well actually, I was up at 5 am but went back to sleep because no one was up), the Mr. and I were the first ones up Christmas and waited another 30mins for the kids to get up and come into the living room. it was like the scene from Thriller with them waking out of the graveyard.

Today, I got up to make sure the kids at least ate anything for breakfast and then I went back to bed with the Mr. We didn't get up until 1pm. Isn't life grand??

my kids were both asleep by 9, but then my daughter (8) was scared that Santa wouldn't stop at our house because she woke back up around 11 – so she slept on the floor in my bedroom. My six year old was wide awake at 3.30am, so he got in bed with me and after I convinced him it was not morning yet we all slept until about 6.45am.

I went to bed at 1am. But lucky for me, both my boys are actually men & I had to actually wake them up at 9:30am in order to have time to open gifts before going to visit family. But even when my sons were younger, we always had to wake them up for Christmas. But when I was young, we would go to bed with flashlights to get up in the night to see what Santa had brought. Lucky for us (and my parents), Santa never wrapped the gifts he left for us. That way, we didn't have to wake up parents to open gifts.
