A boys DREAM girl

by CHERI on March 3, 2010

While we were at Busch Gardens our 4 year old (soon to be 5) became infatuated with a cute teenager sitting behind us on the train.  He asked Prince Charming to take a picture of her.  He told him he couldn’t take a pictures of her.  G3 said “BUT DAD, she is the most beautiful girl I have NEVER seen before”.

The real story for the Its So Very NOT QUITE RIGHT linky party:

Our 2 oldest boys are best friends with a boy from KC, actually G1 and Corbyn are best friends but G2 is included in everything they do.  One day Corbyn was spending the night at our house and I had gone to pick him up.  They had recently moved about 45 minutes away, so there was quite a bit of time to hear the boys talking.  Corbyn says “Mrs. Peoples did you know that I told my Mom what kind of girl I want to marry.  I said “yes, she did mention it to me, (She had actually told me the whole story and we were cracking up on the phone) but I was going to see what he had to say.

Lets backtrack just a little.  Corbyn was talking to his mom one day and announced that he didn’t want to get married and have to deal with all the girl stuff, he just thought when he got out of college and had a job,  he would adopt another kid his age.  You have to step into a pre-teen boys mind here–he is thinking we will be 2 kids, hanging out and playing video games together.  He isn’t thinking that he is going to be an adult and adults don’t adopt adults.  His Mom told him that would not be a wise decision because if he were to adopt another boy, that boy would need a mom.

A little while later, after a little more time to contemplate his plan, Corbyn goes back to his Mom and says “Mom, I have it figured out.  I will marry a really OLD lady and that way she can have a kid for me and then she can die and I can raise my son and he still will have had a Mom.”  My friend said, in horror, “Corbyn that is AWFUL to wish that your wife would die” (remember Pre-Teen Boy thinking-he doesn’t see this woman as the love of his life, she is just the woman who gives birth to another kid he can play video games with and he obviously doesn’t know about menopause).

So we are in the car and he starts repeating this story to me.  I guess he wanted to see what another Mom thought of his GREAT plan.

{Corbyn is the oldest child in their family, then came 2 sisters and he had just had a baby brother at this point but there was a huge age gap between the 2 boys.}

Corbyn gets done repeating his plan to me and I said

CHERI:  “Corbyn, what if you get married and you don’t have a son, but have a daughter?”

CORBYN:  “HMMMM”  long pause…..

CORBYN:  “MRS. PEOPLES”

CHERI:  “Yes, Corbyn”

CORBYN:  “I have it figured out.  I will just give the girl up for adoption and then adopt a boy.”

Hi Cheri-
That is so funny! It’s amazing the things little kids say. We were out looking at houses just for the fun of it over the weekend and my 5 year old said Oh this will be a perfect house for Haley and I when we get married becuase it has a crib!
Too funny, take care-
Kristin

aww, this was soooo cute!! Its so funny when they get to an age where they start to notice!! You know, I just saw that you were at Busch Gardens, and it made me wonder where you live. Yay, Naples… I moved here to Tulsa from CAPE CORAL, I cannot believe we were neighbors! Love this post!! xox LA

Oh my GOODNESS. I can not believe that. You would have been so close. That area has been hit so hard. A few years ago it was so up and coming and now the neighbors that are left are trying to keep their yards and neighbors who are gone, looking nice to try and keep the neighborhoods from going down hill any more. It is just so sad.

So what took you to Tulsa. I have a really good friend that lives in Tulsa. We are actually from the Kansas City area. We used to live North of Dallas and we have lived in New Jersey but KC, actually Lees Summit Mo is our home town.
