Happy Birthday G3 and a video clip of G3 and G4

Little Man you are so special.  One of a kind.  We had already lost our first baby, then had your 2 big brothers, had come to a place of contentment that this was the way God had for us and we no longer planned on trying to add to our family.  We got rid of a lot of baby stuff only to get pregnant without trying a couple of months later and then loose that baby.  I poured my heart out to God, not asking Why but to please either show us that He had another baby for us or to take us back to that place of total contentment.  Our hearts were aching.

2 months later we were expecting you.  You decided you needed to come into this world just a little different and you still do things in your own way.  My fluids were low, and you were breech.  The night before we were to go see if my fluids were high enough to try and turn you around, I began feeling a little sick.  As the evening progressed it got worse.  We placed a call to the Dr and he wanted us to head to the hospital.  I was ill all night and they said something about an infection in my blood.  They gave me some drug that made me so loopy, I wasn’t thinking very clearly and your Daddy was sound asleep, so I was asking some questions but was having a hard time concentrating and putting everything together.  Your Dad didn’t even wake up when I was about to get sick, forgot I was hooked up to IV’s and machines  (loopy from those meds), ran for the bathroom, just about ripping IV’s out of my arm, nurses running into our room because all kinds of alarms were going off from the activity with my machine, got sick, cleaned up, back in bed–all without him waking up.

They checked my fluids again the next morning and they were lower and it was announced that you were coming that day-3 weeks early by emergency C-section.  I love labor and delivery–ladies I know that may sound crazy but I do — I LOVE LOVE LOVE it.  I was soooo sick with all 3 boys, unable to enjoy much of my pregnancies and so labor and delivery was exilerating to me.  I was disappointed that I would not be able to go through labor and delivery but we knew what was most important was having you safe and sound.

AS soon as you were born, the Dr said “Oh he has a knot in his cord”.  One of the nurses came over and said “any time we have a baby born alive with a knot in the cord, I always say a little prayer thanking the Lord” .  The next thing I heard from the Dr was “he has a cleft in his chin”.  Your Daddy was by your side instantly making sure everything was fine.  You did great on all your tests.  We did deal with some jaundice and stayed the full 5 days.  You were in one of those special incubators with the blue lights.

You were so tiny.  Your brothers and sister were more than 25% bigger than you, so you seemed itty bitty.

You have amazed us with your strength, determination, ability to play ball.  You have a sweet special relationship with your sister and a special relationship with your 2 big brothers.  You watch out for Miss G4 and protect her and love on her and then sometimes even torment her, and sometimes it’s her own sweet ornary self that brings it on.

We love you.  Happy 5th birthday.

Happy Birthday! Those kiddos are so cute..How do you do it…I only have 2 and cannot find time for anything. I am impressed. Birth is such a fascinating and scary experience…and those little faces make it all worth it.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY G3! Yay! Five years old! What a cutie! That video was super sweet. I love G4 saying she does not have enough fingers to keep going! Too cute. I hope G3 has a fabulous day.

I’m so glad everything worked out with your children. Sounds like you had a rough go with your babies. Happy Birthday G3. The children are so cute.

Hi Cheri,
Just wanted to say I enjoyed your post so much because today is my oldest son’s birthday too… he is 22. I went through a lot when I was pregnant with him…lost 30lbs, stayed deathly ill and had to have him by csection as well. You and I had a lot in common, all the way down to my son having to sleep in an incubator too. He had a terrible apgar score and had trouble breathing. Your post brought back a LOT of memories for me…made me tear up a little too. So from one momma to another, thanks for taking me down memory lane and tell your little one I said, “happy birthday”. 🙂 I thank God for my 3 sons everyday of my life….they have to best the best things this side of Heaven. :*)
