A deal I can’t keep to myself

by CHERI on June 26, 2010

Last night we were in Wal-Mart picking up a few things like Q-tips, body wash, and a prescription. I went to grab a few things in the grocery section (which in my opinion is not the best pricing–I can save a ton more money by shopping the LOSS LEADERS with out carrying a single coupon with me–if I did coupons I would save even more.) Anyway we pass the computer area and Prince Charming stops to show our 2 big boys some laptop computers, they have been wanting one of their own. G2 (12 years old) sees one that he likes and asks me if he can buy it. I show him another computer that is just a little more but has a lot more memory etc. He is looking at me, with those eyes that say I REALLY WANT THIS MOM. I told him to go talk to his Dad. While he is telling his Dad, his request. I look behind me on and on the shelf are several computers with pricing and each has a sign that says “FLOOR MODEL 30% OFF”. My husband tells him, that these are a much better deal. I asked an employee about the pricing because a couple of them had keys missing and wondered if they would discount it even more (the one that the boys were zeroing in on had some missing keys). The employee told me “No, they had just dropped the price yesterday and each week, they drop them an additional 10%, if they haven’t been purchased.” The boys decided to split the cost and share the computer. We had them hold it, the boys wanted to run home and get some of their money. As we were checking out Prince Charming ran to the back to get the #’s off of it so we could do a search for the price of a replacement keyboard. Remember when I replaced my keyboard? The manager was there and offered the computer to my husband at 50% OFF (instead of the listed 30% OFF) My boys got a HP computer, that is a dicontinued model, but overall, still in great shape, other than the missing keyboard. Most of them had all the keys. If you are looking for a great deal on a computer be sure to check them out–they are floor models, if you find one at a great deal, TALK TO THE MANAGER AND ASK FOR A BETTER DEAL, then grab it–because once gone there won’t be another like it.

I went online and ordered them a new keyboard for $43.13 (with shipping)
The computer was originially $598, it had a mark down price, then they got 50% OFF for a price of $248($124 each)
Total out of pocket =$291.13
They are thrilled with their puchase.

For $250 here is the guts of what they got:
