by CHERI on June 24, 2011

A huge hello to It’s So Very Cheri’s readers!
I’m Shannon and this is my hubby Dean and we’re so happy to be guest posting here today!

We write a blog called {aka}|design, where we share our thrifty design finds, organization ideas and affordable DIY projects. You may have seen a few of our projects around the web.

DIY projects like our Reclaimed Wood Headboard that cost only $36!

Our Geometric Statement Wall & huge Starburst.

Our Gallery Wall.

And our Fabric Wall Art.

A few of our furniture makeovers include our Buffet & Hutch

and our TV Cabinet & Coffee Table.

We are lovers of clean lines, crisp colours paired with rich neutrals, rustic industrial materials and cozy textures. Apparently we’re pretty eclectic; a little modern country but with some edge!

We want to share a simple DIY project with you today. Really really simple!
It’s a burlap “wreath”.

What you’ll need:
length of heavy gauge wire shaped into a circle
roll of burlap garland
glue gun and sticks (optional)

Step 1: Feed the burlap garland onto the heavy wire circle. Nicely space so that the “wreath” is nice and full.

Step 2: To keep the burlap garland from sliding around on the wreath, hot glue it in a few places (optional).

You can prop it’s roughly textured goodness up against some art on a desk or table…

or you can use the wreath to add texture to a centrepiece…

How easy was that?
Inexpensive too!

You could also hang the wreath by a length of satin ribbon…
But I ran out of time to figure out how to secure the burlap
enough to keep it from sliding to the bottom of the circle!
Any ideas?

Come stop by our blog for more tips, tricks, designs and ideas!

Thank you Cheri for having us visit today!

I just bought some of that awesome burlap garland at Michaels. I found it near the fake fake flowers/plants area near the vases and jars and things. It was kind of a random find but I would check there. LOVE the wreath!!! Definitely going to make and I would guess a little hot glue might help it not slide!?!

I was at Michael’s today and saw it too. I immediately thought I have to go back and let that gal know that I saw it. At my Michael’s store it was in the area by silk flowers but on an aisle with things like glass pebbles so look on the side aisles in the floral area and you should find it.
