I wanted to make a sign that looked like an old vintage enamel sign. I wanted it to say S-E-A.
I got some stencils from DecoArt and went to work on the sign.
You will need
a board
Enamel cabinet & Trim paint (I used Dutch Boy)
DecoArt gloss enamel black paint
DecoArt cherry red, slate gray and midnight blue
DecoArt stencils
Stucco
Purdy paintbrush
a craft paintbrush
painters tape
I used 3 different stencils. The “E” is actually a backwards number 3.
The “S” was formed with the stencil and the stucco then painted –and eventually sanded over.
You want to paint your board with a couple of coats of the enamel paint.
Once dry you will tape off the outer black lines and middle black lines with painters tape. fill in the area with your DecoArt Stucco product.
Paint those lines with your DecoArt Gloss Enamel paint. Then I added areas to make it look like the the enamel was wearing off.
Once the black paint has dried line up your stencils and paint each letter. Touch up any white enamel paint areas.
Apply a DISChanger-my favorite hanging tool- to the back to hang your sign.
DISChangers are so easy to use, just wet your finger, rub the glue, let it activate for 5 minutes and apply. Let it dry over night and it is ready to hang.
I am adding this to the party over at WhisperWood Cottage
Update Maryann from Domestically Speaking just started a new site Power of Paint and she will be featuring my S-E-A board over there today.
