My Plans Are Not Your Plans

Continued From Chapter 13:

God watched over him because when they pulled him out he also had a knot in his chord.  He was born perfect, strong and healthy but he was tiny.

As time passed we talked about whether or not we should have another one.  Our two oldest boys were super close and there was such an age span between them and our little guy.  The economy was starting to spiral out of control and we decided it would be best to stop with the 3 God had given us but you know our plans are not always HIS plans.

Chapter 14:

We had decided it would be wise to have this be our family– 3 boys.  We were so abundantly blessed.  Having a family didn’t come quick or easily so we cherished every one of our children but God decided we needed a surprise.  He needed to prove to us that HE IS IN CONTROL.

My husband had been out of town for a week and I was “late”.  I really did not think I was pregnant but I knew my doctor would want me to take a pregnancy test before he put me on any meds to start my cycle so I picked up a pregnancy test so I could have that part out of the way, when I called on Monday morning.

Sunday morning I woke up early, my husband was coming home that day so there was lots to do before we went to the airport to pick him up.

I grabbed the pregnancy test and headed for the bathroom and to my shock and surprise it came up positive– I was pregnant.  THAT was not even on my radar.

God must have been sitting up in heaven chuckling and thinking–THEY thought they had their plans all laid out but they just do not know what blessings I have in store for them.

I didn’t tell the kids.  I went about my day until it was time to head to the airport.  The kids were excited to see “Daddy” so we parked and went inside to wait.  The kids were all hugging and hanging on Dad and I finally got my hug and as my husband hugged me I whispered in his ear “we’re pregnant”.

I gained very little weight and we decided to wait to tell anyone until we knew everything was going to be OK.  Since I wasn’t showing it was easy to keep it a secret.  I even went to the pool with my sister and she didn’t notice anything.

Because I was over 40 my doctor wanted to have a level 3 sonogram.  We had to go to the hospital to have this sonogram.  We decided to take our boys so they could see our little baby.  Until the night before the sonogram (@ 20 weeks pregnant) our children didn’t even know–we didn’t want them to slip up and tell their cousins.  We went in and they measured between the toes and checked every little thing on our baby.  The doctor walked in and announced that “we did not have one of THESE at home”.  My husband said “REALLY”.  I was so prepared to have another boy–once again –God must have been chuckling and saying “they have no concept how much I love them and how much I have blessed them”.

We got to the car and the kids called my parents to announce–not just that we were having another baby but it was a GIRL.  We then went to my sister’s house and the kids said we have news–guess what.  Everyone got 3 guesses–guesses ranged from us moving again, buying a new house to having a new baby.  DING DING DING–everyone was so surprised that we already knew what we were having.

The PINK shopping began.  Doing up a pink and frilly nursery was in full swing.

Our little girl was born healthy and happy. She sprinkles everything with pink fairy dust.

God knew that our life and hearts would not be complete without our 3 boys and our little princess.

Thank you Lord for giving us the 6 most amazing blessings and some day we can not wait to meet the 2 that we have never held or looked into their eyes and said “I LOVE YOU” but they have a special place in our hearts and we love them all.
