I LOVE Maps and World Globes.
We have a couple of really neat maps that I wanted to share with you.
They tell a story
–both maps share, with us, a part of history
one –of voyagers who took to the sea
We got them when we went to Mackinac Island (UP Michigan).
One of them shows the ship wrecks of the Great Lakes with drawings of the ships, the ship’s name and how many were lost at sea.
On the photo below do you see the
UNKNOWN MYSTERY WRECK
and what it says about the people on that ship?
So many stories in one map.
Sadly, this part of the map has so many ship wrecks.
If you look at the bottom right you will see the FLYING CLOUD and learn that the crew froze to death.
The bottom left shows the EASTLAND the worst loss of life on the Great Lakes-835 lives lost.
The second Map shows the
Lighthouses of the Great Lakes
with drawings of the lighthouses.
You could take a week long vacation and travel to see all the lighthouses up there.
