I want each of you, that have e-mailed me to come by and grab your button or follow you, to know–I will get there-
I have a huge list of things to get through to get my blog move finished. Please continue to let me know about coming by and I will add it to my list. There are some things on my list that I have to have done this weekend.
You may wonder why I moved before it was all done and why I left Blogger any way. Let me share with you.
Not long after I began this blog (May 2009), I started noticing weird patterns in my traffic. That is when I really began watching my Analytics and checking things out. Every 2-6 weeks Google/Blogger would do something strange to my blog. I would go days or weeks without having them show my posts in the Reader. Of course my number of visitors would drop because people were not getting it, they thought I wasn’t posting. By Aug 2009, I purchased my blog name and began trying to figure out how to get my blog moved from Blogger to WordPress. My husband was extremely busy with classes and so I couldn’t bug him for some help, to make sure I was doing everything correctly, so I put it on hold. I was busy planning a HUGE Give-a-way for Oct. plus a trip back to KC for a family wedding. Google messed up the OCT give-a-way, I wasn’t getting any of the comments (fso everyone who entered did not show up, I did not get an e-mail about the comments). I did have a few people who were registering for the give-a-way and those were showing up but most were not. I ended up extending the give-a-way but I had no way know of knowing who had signed up and who hadn’t. In Nov.things were going along good and then in December they didn’t show my posts for 3 weeks and when I contacted the forum, I was told everything was fine with my blog. I registered for my own blog in RSS feed so I would know if there was a problem and I could see that my posts weren’t showing, plus I was getting e-mails from gals who were coming by but letting me know they hadn’t received anything in their reader for days, weeks. It is too complicated to even explain the Dec. problem, to you-completely, but all of a sudden, no changes to my blog on my end–and the posts were not showing up again, this is when the forum was telling me everything was fine on my blog. I will tell you after 3 weeks of trying to figure it all out, I had to finagle my blog just so it would post in reader but in doing so it was not getting to the Search Engines-ugh. I never could get it fixed so that it could get my posts to show up in the Reader and get to the Search Engines and my numbers showed it. Those are just a few of the things they did to me. Amazingly my blog continued to grow (I’m sure it would have been even more if I wasn’t having some issue every month) in Dec and Jan but my rankings were down and I knew it was due to the Search Engine problem.
SO in December I began making all the necessary changes to my blog and began working towards a move to my own site. Christi from Wharton Marketing , is one of my followers and she helped me get over here. Thank you so much Christi.
I have received many e-mails from my gals, who knew of all the different issues I had dealt with saying Cheri help-it has happened to me too, what did you do to fix this problem, blogger is no help at all.
In all of my research I learned that WordPress is the best and it is what professional web designers have their clients use.
I knew I was running out of time last week to get it all moved over and I was thinking through all the things I needed to still do and I was actually thinking of putting it off for another week, when I got an e-mail form another follower saying I know Blogger has done this to you what do I do to fix it. That is when I thought I need to get out of here before they do something else to my blog.
So far I am very happy here.
DID YOU KNOW?
When you are on Blogger-they own your content-everything you write about your famil, friends, projects–it is theirs. They can shut you down for spam-even if you aren’t doing anything wrong and you have to prove that you weren’t and that you should be able to continue blogging.
When you are on Blogger they get your SEO-you don’t.
They have NO customer service and you have no where to get real help and even if you go to the forum, you may not get an answer. Out of the times I went to the forum for help, I got an answer ONE time, from one person, and that was the time I was told my blog was fine and I could see it was not fine. The “conversations” (on the forum) with this one individual, made me feel like they thought I was some idiot and I just couldn’t see the posts in Reader. They never would address how to fix it because they did not believe there was a problem at all. No matter what question I asked they would not answer it. They would tell me there wasn’t a need to do anything because it was all there. I spent an entire day on the forum and was so frustrated by the end of the day I wanted to SCREAM.
I NOW have LINKY FOLLOWERS–please follow me on my new tool.

That all does sound more than annoying and frustrating. I haven’t had any problem with blogger so far but then I don’t run contests etc. It sounds very complicated to make the switch to wordpress. Congratulations on getting the job done!
I finally got my own button! I’m so excited! I know you’re really busy, but add me to your list and please come by and grab my button! Thank you for sharing all your blogger problems. I’m starting to experience a few problems with blogger too. I’m kind of afraid of making a move. I appreciate all the good advice you’ve given me.
I am a new Wordpress owner also. I am enjoying it, but probably only use about 1/3 of all it has. :O)

I wish I had made time months ago. I have spent so many wasted hours trying to fix one problem after another. Did you know the head guy at Google has a WordPress account–what does that tell you.
Cheri
There is a lot to do because I have so many followers etc. If I had moved months ago it wouldn’t have taken nearly as much.
Every post you do–before you move–takes you that much longer when you make the move.
Cheri
Cheri, I’m glad you got it all figured out! And the new blog looks great. Thanks for all your help!
Hearing all the trouble is awful. I am so on the verge of switching…I am scared!
I want a “Html” button for my blog…
Your blog is finally showing up on my reader and it’s HERE (on Wordpress).
Like you said there are BUGS on Blogspot and some of them are annoying like it says you can leave comments but when you do you can’t for the life of you.
Congrats on your move… as my blog is really Hooverhousehold.com version 3.0 only Blogger wouldn’t let me move my domain name…(moved due to several attacks by a hacker)…hmm maybe that’s why…
anywho love your blog
YEAH!!! I am going to do a tutorial on making buttons this week.
Cheri
Just so you know, it may not always be a problem with Blogger – sometimes the issue is with the rss reader – I use Bloglines – I’ve notice lately I’m not being notified of new blog posts for a few days – right now MY Bloglines has not show any updates for your feed at itssoverycheri.com (your new site) since Mon Feb 15……..so see – it’s not always because of Blogger – so when they were telling you everything was fine – maybe it was.
Cheryl (Tidy Mom) made a comment and I responded to her at her blog but just so no one else wonders about this I am posting a comment here as well. When I moved my blog over here from BLOGGER, I have 70 posts that did not make it over and I am trying to figure out how to get them back over here and so I have not redirected my old blog yet, registered with the SEOs or changed my ranking to this site so that is why I am not showing up.
Cheri
Cheri, I did not get or see a response from you on my blog or email – I came here looking to see if you replied…
Your new site has a feed of it’s own http://itssoverycheri.com/feed/
doesn’t have anything to do with moving your old posts over – your new feed though is not sending out feed – so any one that subscribes to you is not being notified of new posts you make……do you use feedburner? that may be something you will want to take care of asap, since many people follow blogs thru rss readers
